How a picture of a romantic proposal in Chester took the country by storm

How a picture of a romantic proposal in Chester took the country by storm

As reported by the Chester Standard a picture of a couple getting engaged at The Cross in Chester has gone viral – after the romantic moment was captured on camera by a passer-by Annabell Parry and posted to chester's biggest community notice board in the hope of finding the couple so they can have the moment to treasure forever.

The post was clicked and share thousands of times and through the power of social media the happy couple have been found.

Tom, 27, and Beckii Heard, 24, say they have been “overwhelmed” by the public response to the photo.

Tom joked the response to the photo was “madness” but added both he and his fiancee were thrilled a complete stranger had kindly taken so much trouble to ensure they could see it.

Tom explained that while he had been planning to propose to his partner of three years for several weeks, events did not quite unfold as planned.

He had originally intended to pop the question at the couple's home, off Liverpool Road, but had a change of heart and instead decided to do it after a 60th wedding anniversary meal for his grandparents on Sunday.

But when family members left The Architect pub sooner than expected, Tom was forced into Plan C – to take Beckii for a short walk and propose at The Cross where they met for their first date. The actual spot he chose was just outside Siddall’s Optometrists, a few metres from The Cross.

Beckii said: “We got to The Cross and Tom went down on one knee, I thought to tie his shoelaces. But he grabbed hold of me and was shaking and pulled this ring out.“My first words were ‘oh my God’.
“He was stuttering and said ‘will you be my wife, will you marry me?’, and I said ‘of course I would, of course, yes’.”
Tom said: “It was right in the middle of Chester. We had people clapping and cheering which was great.

“It went from the original plan of just the two of us to this massive, massive celebration which is great – just brilliant.”

The city centre was busier than usual due to a major Pokémon Go event taking place, and passer-by Annabell was on the hunt for characters at the time with her children.Annabell has been “surprised” by the reaction to the picture, adding: “All I wanted was to give them a lovely photo of the moment.”

The happy couple continued their celebrations at the Commonhall Street Social bar over a bottle of Prosecco.

It was not until later that evening when the picture was shared online that their phones started to buzz with messages from friends and family.

A touching jewellery journey

Hello Eco Blog readers,

I wanted to share with you a small extract from a message sent to me this week that brought a happy tear to my eyes. It's always good to know the jewellery we create goes to good homes, but when we get a small insight into how much it can mean to you, it truly warms our hearts. Heather very kindly gave us a window into her incredible journey:

“I stare at it and get lost in it's perfection; like meditating on sacred geometry. I cried when Ben put this ring on my finger! It was as if time stood still for a moment, everything in our crazy life paused,  and I was flooded with joy, peace, love, and intense blessings!”

It warms me to think that my labouring in our small West Midlands workshop over this wonderful ring, has helped further unite two wonderful people on the other side of our planet. It truly was your silver lining.

“There could not be a more perfect ring for us! Thank you for being part of our journey.”

And thank you Heather for sharing your journey with us.

Love and Peace

Eco Blog March 2017

Hello Eco Bloggers!

You may have noticed we have been super busy uploading all of our new designs to the website! A you might be able to tell, we have spent a long time vastly expanding our range to Celtic jewellery. We were inspired after a trip to Whitby abbey late last year. There were plenty of stone works for us to take inspiration from and we hope you like wearing the designs as much as we enjoyed making them.

The other underlying theme in our recent creations is going back to nature itself. We have a few new animal designs, from horses to elephants, even a pussy cat or two. We hope with time to get our creative juices flowing again as we love making new castings. I think the next step may be to expand our range of dress rings once more as they are looking sparse. Don't get me wrong the amber 5 stone and amethyst Celtic ring is some of our best sellers and are a pleasure to make. But I am feeling the challenge of new ring designs calling. But we better sell some of our new stock first to buy the silver!

We also had to say goodbye to an old workshop Friend a few weeks back. Ye Old Mr. Buff finally gave up the ghost after many, many years faithful service. So we salvaged what we could and went foraging down the local scrap yard for a new motor. I am please to say we were very successful and have found a shiny new re purposed motor for our polishing wheel. And being extra good recycled the un-salvageable pieces of the last one, but of course you expected nothing less! So enter Mr. Buff 2.0, having flexed his motor muscles I am please to say the polishing is now taking next to now time.

I will keep you updated as we progress through the year and remember if you have any pictures of you wearing our Eco925 jewellery please do send them in as we would love to post them in one of our next blog entries. Right better get back to making some of these orders!

Love and Peace

November Eco-Blog + Gemstones Myths, Legends and Facts (back by popular demand!)

Hello Eco-Followers,

Happy November! Wow what a hectic month we have had here at Eco925. With the latest Winter instalment of our website and the addition of over 40 new jewellery lines to our website. We are very proud of some of the new concepts and by the look of our order file, they seem to be going down a treat. We particularity enjoyed creating the small and large set of Celtic pendants made of silver. It takes some time to create the oxidising effect between the runes, but the finished results are worth it. See for yourselves:

We also had the chance this month to build a complete set of our sunflower range, one of our favourite designs to make. The petal detail casts well, but always needs to be hand finished by lightly etching the fine lines.

We have also received one or two emails from some clients asking if we will be continuing our gemstones Myths, Legends and facts in our coming blogs. The answer is yes, starting back with this months Topaz we will be getting back into the swing of monthly blogging with gemstone facts and fun.

The Mystical World Of Topaz

The birthstone of November, Topaz is a Gemstone from the Orthorhombic crystal system. It comes in a variety of colours such as red, pink, yellow, brown, blue and colourless. It has also been know to come in green, but this is quite rare and carries a hefty price point. The most frequently seen colour on the market tends to be the blue topaz, desired as it often gives an iridescent appearance. The blue that is desired is usually an intense colouration with a darker body colour than aquamarine. Nearly all topaz sold in this colour has undergone treatment to attain the desired colour. In most cases it is a combination of both heat treatment and irradiation (but don't fear it certainly not radioactive).

Heat treatment is also used to get pink topaz, by heating the yellow or brown gemstones which contain the transition (colouring) element Chromium.

Traditionally it was desirable to have Topaz in its rough crystal form, to be kept in the household, as it was believed by many to radiate good health for those in the dwelling. The Greeks in particular were very fond of the topaz gemstone deriving its namesake from the red sea island Topazios (now called Zabargad). They believed that the gemstone would bring great strength in their battles.

Caring for topaz

It is well worth mentioning that topaz does not take kindly to being ultrasonically cleaned. Although it has a moh's hardness of 8 it is advised to clean them with a dull toothbrush, fairy liquid and hot water. Workshop wise, Topaz has a tendency to thermal shock, so its best to either unset or wrap it up really well before attempting to heat any metal. If you happen to have a yellow topaz, try not to leave it sitting in the window, or near sunbeds or any kind of U.V light. It likely that its been treated by irradiation, meaning there is a good chance it will speed up the colour fading from the gemstone.

Well that it from us here for another month, I hope you enjoyed and stay in touch for our Christmas special. I will leave you with a stunning picture sent into us by one of our valued customers Lara, wearing her Eco-Friendly Nautilus shell on her wedding day.

Love and Peace
